As one of those kids who had her teeth pulled with pliers, it wasn't bad, although I still hate the taste of the metal. I took my son to the dentist recently because my son had two teeth intwined at the roots, that were loose, but needed to come out. I ended up paying the dentist to pull them (he thought I was crazy when I mentioned the pliers) ..... then I got the dental bill after the insurance paid part. I WISHED I HAD TAKEN HIM HOME TO THE PLIERS. ;)

I think the biggest challenge is eating out -- its seems convenient, but can add up quick. And I've learned - although slowly, dinner can be made quickly & cheaply at home in less than 30 minutes ( or heck even 15 minutes) EVEN IF YOU ARE A WORKING MOM. You just learn what to keep stocked in your kitchen that is healthy and your kids or you will like (sometimes).

And sometimes you make a dumb financial move/purchase/lease -- and you just have to learn your lesson, figure it out, and move on. You'll do better next time.

What a great article. Since the time for me to get married young has come and gone, I have been thinking a lot about what finances will be like when I do get married. I've been working hard to reduce my student loans because every dollar I pay off now reduces the burden that remains when I get married. Looking forward to navigating finances with a spouse.
