I have recent medical conditions that have made fasting hard. I’ve tried several different ways, skipping only one meal, eating a tiny snack for breakfast and lunch, but every single one left me sick and unable to function. I finally realized fasting was no longer an option for me. When I was pregnant I used serving in the temple as my fast but that isn’t an option now with covid. Thank you for this post to help me find encouragement and ideas of how to find a way to make fast Sunday more meaningful for me.

Oleah, I'm SO glad that this blog post spoke to you! Fasting is difficult for me too, and I'm constantly striving to figure out how to make my own fast more meaningful. It's amazing that you're so in-tune with the Spirit and know when your fast is complete — what an wonderful gift and blessing!

This is such a wonderful blog. I get very ill a few days after fasting for a full 24 hours. It has been such a trial for me because I want to fast. One thing I found that helped me was listen to the spirit when it is time for me to stop fasting. This is if I am going without food. The spirit will say that my fast is complete. I still have a long way to go to make my fast the best that it can be. (Again, I really appreciate this blog!) The blessings in Isaiah about the fast are innumerable and overwhelming. It keeps me going and trying to be a better faster.

In reply to <a href="https://ldsblogs.com/43719/when-you-cant-fast#comment-629752">Addisen</a>.

Thanks for sharing your experience Addisen! How did your fast go?

President Nelson asked us to fast as we are able. Sometimes that looks very different for different people. Some people cannot fast from food or water so they fast in other ways, like from watching TV or social media or favorite snacks.

That's wonderful you were turning to Heavenly Father. As you pray and ask for guidance, He will send the Holy Ghost to help you know the best way you can fast next time.

These are crazy times. I hope your family is safe and we can continue to pray for the outside world.

I’m 11 years old and a lot has been happening in my family and the outside world. When president Nielsen asked us to fast today in general conference, I told myself that I would. I prayed and asked Heavenly Father to help me fast, Now I feel sick and my anxiety is increased. I realized that it may not be wise to fast with such bad effects, but I feel almost like I’m making excuses. I don’t want to let Heavenly Father down. What can I do?
