					<description><![CDATA[Thanks for your words about the importance of accountability.  I think it is too often overlooked and, unfortunately, misunderstood by many people.

The agency spoken of in our scriptures is the basis of our accountability.  God gave unto us to be &quot;agents unto themselves.&quot;  An agent represents a principal; therefore, God allows us to legally represent ourselves.  As agents unto ourselves, we can direct our own actions (free choice) and we are bound to the consequences of those actions (accountability).  When we sin, we are legally bound to the consequences of our actions (punishment for our sins), but under the Father&#039;s plan, we can also use our agency to enter into an agreement with Jesus Christ.  When we enter into the baptismal covenant with Jesus and repent of our sins, we authorize Him to act as our Agent in our behalf (a different agency relationship).  Jesus paid the penalty demanded by the law.  When we allow Him to act in our behalf, the law will grant us the benefits that arise through His actions.]]></description>
