Adam Simpson

Adam Simpson

Adam Simpson, a native of the great Layton, Utah, is the middle child surrounded by two sisters. He often cites this as both a blessing and a curse — a curse when he was young, but now a blessing as all have reached maturity.

He is one who finds passion for a myriad of unique and differing things. His growing up years were full of the usual things that a boy enjoys — camping with the scouts, video games after school, football and basketball city leagues. But as he grew up, he took on hobbies that few others did: he began ballroom dancing at age 12 and competed nationally for several years. He quit piano in favor of the drums and played for his high school Jazz Band and captained the Drumline. And, upon invitation from an older boy in the ward, Adam joined the high school Ultimate Frisbee team, where he played for four years and saw much success.

Now Adam does all of these things at BYU where, luckily, this odd range of talents is available in abundance.

While serving his mission in Sydney, Australia, Adam found a love for writing through weekly emails sent to a group every P-day recounting his stories and lessons learned. Encouraged by his mother and extended family members, he emailed every week of his mission, a feat few Elders accomplish. He started a blog when he returned home to continue sharing weekly stories and gospel insights.

He can now add “blog writing” to his odd array of talents.

He seeks to describe his simple approach to life’s challenges in his writings, discussing how gospel living combats challenges that plague us in everyday life. He tries to sound like a philosopher — sometimes to his embarrassment, but other times to his credit. He acknowledges that he is still young and knows very little, but his desire to know more inspires gospel insights that can benefit all — especially his college peers.
