Roberta Hess Park, who writers “Coping With the Hard Life” on this website, has a Master’s Degree in Psychology and in Education Administration from Utah State University. She has also been employed as an adjunct professor at the graduate level for Southern Utah University with classes dealing with special education and behavioral issues. She had a private counseling practice in addictive behaviors as well as being a principal of both a middle school and an elementary school.
In the addictive counseling field her trainings were the following: Crisis Counseling; Substance abusing women and their children; the process of adolescent substance abuse. trainings in women’s issues in treatment; substance abuse in the marriage & family; addictive behaviors as well as relapse prevention; children/adolescent behavioral Issues ; management of anger and aggression and gambling addiction.
Roberta Park has served as a Relief Society President, Gospel Doctrine teacher and is currently teaching adult education classes in the evenings. She has also taught institute classes to young adults. She has spoken to a wide range of audiences in California, Nevada, and Utah. She has also served as a early morning Seminary teacher both in California and Nevada.
Roberta is married to Daniel Park. They are both converts to the church, both joining the church when they were young adults. She is the mother of five, four living. Her youngest child has Down’s syndrome. She and her husband spend time both in Utah and in Nevada and Daniel is currently serving in Nevada as the ward Mission leader with Roberta by his side.
Roberta feels strongly that where there is life there is hope and there is no pit so deep that the Lord cannot help us out once we choose.
She has strong feelings about the ability of our youth to survive in these latter days and has written a book called: “It Started with A Lie- Rules and Tools: a Survival Guide for Teens and young adults.” The book is co-authored with C.M. Rick Hardy.
